The following article details how to enable email notifictions for user passwords that will be expiring soon. This will be used to send an email to a user's email address to notify them when their password is due to expire and will require changing soon.
Configuring the Notification
1. All email notifications are located under the Messages -> Message Templates, click the Edit icon against the Password Expiring template, this will open the Update Message window.
2. The first tab, Schedule, is where you can set how many days before password expires that notifications should be sent, the time of day the message is sent, if it should synchronize with the host directory and if the notifications should be sent to active users only and also linked accounts.
3. To configure the email that is sent we can go to the Plain tab to configure a plain text email. It is also possible to configure an email using HTML in the HTML tab if you prefer.
If you want to add information specific to the user who is being emailed (i.e the user's first name), you can click the ${} button to see what available attributes exist.
4. The Options tab provides the actual option to enable the notification, make sure this is activated, as well as options to send a duplicate message for archival purposes, a option to track the email, and add any attachments if required
5. The Delivery tab allows configuration of which of the user's email addresses should receive the notification.
You can choose to deliver to the PRIMARY email (the email on the user's directory account), SECONDARY (an email you can add separately in LogonBox), ONLY_ADDITIONAL (only send to the email listed in Additional Recipients below) or ALL (all email addresses we can find for this user.
You can also define if a specific reply-to email or name need to be set.
The system will iterate through all users at the scheduled time and if there is any user whose password meets the expiry requirements, those user's will be sent the Password Expiring notification.
